Where can international students find out more about studying in the UK?

The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) provides information and advice to international students, and UK students studying abroad www.ukcisa.org.uk 

The British Council provides guidance for international students. International British Council office addresses and websites can be found on their Locations page. Information on studying and funding is on their main Education site www.educationuk.org

The Universities, Colleges and Admission Services (UCAS) website provides information about undergraduate study for international students.

The Prospects website provides information about postgraduate study for  international students.

ForeignStudents.com is a useful website that provides information and resources for overseas students studying, or considering studying, in the UK.

What sources of funding are available to international students?

Information for undergraduates is available on the Directgov page on Student finance: if you’re not from England.

International postgraduate research students can find more information on the British Council’s Funding your studies page. The National Postgraduate Committee also provides information for international students in their postgraduate funding guide.

Prospects has useful information for postgraduates coming to the UK on how to pay for courses with scholarships www.prospects.ac.uk/funding

Postgraduates may also be able to apply for the Overseas Research Scholarship Awards Scheme (ORSAS). For more information, please contact your higher education institution or visit the ORSAS website www.orsas.ac.uk

In addition, many universities and colleges have their own scholarships for which international students may be eligible – please contact the universities or visit their websites for further details.

How can an international student find out if their qualifications are recognised and valid to study in the UK or how their qualification compares to its English equivalent?

You can check the equivalence of your country's qualifications with those in the UK by contacting The National Academic Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC), which runs an information service for international students www.naric.org.uk

In addition, the UK Council for International Student Affairs and the British Council all provide information for international students.
