Universities UK works alongside other stakeholders including: QAA, HEFCE, GuildHE, Association of Colleges and the Higher Education Academy to improve the quality assurance and enhancement system. We are currently focusing on:

• White Paper proposals. UUK have responded to the proposals in the July 2011 White Paper 'Students at the heart of the system'. Our response is available here. We will also respond to separate consultations on regulation and quality from BIS and HEFCE.

• Providing better information about higher education. UUK is committed to improving information, in particular through the use of Key Information Sets from September 2012. We also work with the Higher Education Public Information Steering Group. For further information please see the joint UUK/ GuildHE/ HEFCE publication 'Provision of information about higher education', published in June 2011. • Improving the external examining system. Universities UK, together with GuildHE, conducted a review of external examining arrangements to ensure that they are fit to face future challenges. Many of the recommendations of this review are now being taken forward by the QAA.
