Formal and
effective procedures exist in all universities to allow them to judge the effectiveness of their programmes in achieving their stated aims, and the success of students in attaining the intended learning outcomes.
These procedures involve the views of
external examiners,
reports from accrediting or other external bodies, staff and student feedback, feedback from employers, and student progress and other relevant data.
Effective and prompt
follow-up of any recommendations made will protect the interests of current students and allow any staff and resource needs to be addressed.
The
QAA (opens in a new window) checks how UK universities maintain their own academic standards and quality. They review and report on how universities meet their responsibilities, identify good practice and make recommendations for improvement.
