Policy and research
A close-up of a hand writing on a notepad

At Universities UK we undertake research and policy development to enable UK universities to lead the national debate in UK higher education.

Our five current strategic priorities are:

1. economic recovery and public funding
2. quality, standards, and reputation
3. social mobility
4. international competitiveness
5. research funding and governance

Our work covers the full range of university activity in the UK, and our policy and research activities are carried out through:

  • UUK’s eight policy committees and working groups
  • Longer Term Strategy Group
  • other ad hoc advisory and sector groups

We disseminate our policy and research outputs and findings to:

  • our member institutions
  • funders and potential funders of HE
  • government
  • organisations in the higher education community
  • employer and student organisations
  • national bodies representing other education sectors
  • the wider public
