Professor Philip Jones to chair new quality assurance group

It has been announced today (Thursday) that Professor Philip Jones, Vice Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, will chair the new Quality Assurance in Higher Education System Group.  This group has been set up by Universities UK, GuildHE, DEL (Department for Employment and Learning) and HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England), in order to manage and develop the new quality assurance system.

It will have the QAA as its principal adviser. Its first role will be to consider the responses to the current consultation on the future of the quality assurance system (HEFCE 2009/47) and make recommendations for improvements. The first meeting of this group will take place in February 2010.
