Universities UK has two autonomous national councils representing Scotland and Wales.
Universities Scotland represents Heads of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Scotland and Higher Education Wales represents Heads of HEIs in Wales. England and Northern Ireland interests are represented by the Vice-President, England and Northern Ireland.
Each council has an elected chair (convener in the case of Universities Scotland) who is also a Vice-President of Universities UK.
The current Vice-Presidents are:
Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, England and Northern Ireland
Professor Seamus McDaid CBE, Scotland
Professor John Hughes, Wales
Universities UK has offices in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff to support the national councils.
